Halifax Common Aquatics Facility
The new Aquatics Facility in Halifax is scheduled to open in the Summer of 2023, and replaces the existing aging building.
The use of nail-laminated timber (NLT) provides structural stability and is carbon-efficient when compared to other roof deck systems. In addition, its use supports the project goals resulting in minimal waste and manageable future maintenance.
Promoting the natural surrounding environment, exposed NLT both on the interior and exterior of the new facility was an important factor in the design.
